Hi, I'm Dr. Matthea Rentea—and I've been exactly where you are.

 

I've struggled with my weight ever since kindergarten. 
I know what it's like to lose 10 pounds only to gain back 20. 
I've tried every fad diet, soul-crushing workouts, obsessively counting calories… and still felt like I was "failing."
For years, I believed what our culture teaches us: that inability to lose weight is a moral character flaw. That I just lacked willpower. That I wasn't trying hard enough.  

Turns out, I was wrong. And so is our culture. 

As a physician, I would never tell someone with asthma that their condition is a character flaw. Yet with weight, we apply completely different standards. It's time to change that. 
After more than a decade of helping patients in major medical systems, I specialized in obesity medicine because I was tired of just treating symptoms. I wanted to get to the root causes—insulin resistance, hormonal imbalances, the biological factors that make weight management so challenging. 

 

And here's what I learned: 

Weight struggles aren't about willpower. They're about biology. 

After doing "all the right things" for years with limited success, I finally gave myself permission to work WITH my biology instead of against it. That's why I threw out the traditional diet playbook and created an approach based on adding to your life—more variety, more protein, more joyful movement—instead of the restriction that never works long-term.   

 

I realized working WITH my biology meant using every tool available—including GLP-1 medication. Not because it's a magic bullet—I still have to eat the protein, do the movement, manage my stress—but because it restored the hunger signals that diet culture had completely disrupted. That's why I've made it my mission to remove the shame and empower people with the evidence-based tools they need to succeed—both on and off medication.
